HOW TO GET TO US
METRO: take line 1 (light blue) from Atocha Renfe, change at Sol to line 2 (red) in the director of Cuatro Caminos, get off at San Bernardo. We are less than a minute’s walk from the Metro stop.
CERCANÍAS RENFE & METRO: Take RENFE Cercanias to Sol. change at Sol to line 2 (red) in the director of Cuatro Caminos, get off at San Bernardo. We are less than a minute’s walk from the Metro stop.
TAXI: A taxi will cost approx €10-15 from Atocha. Depending on where you pick up the taxi, you could incur a surcharge of about €4€ for station pick up.
METRO: From Chamartin station, take the Metro line 10 (dark blue) heading south to Alonso Martinez, change to line 4 (brown) in the direction of Argüelles and get off at San Bernardo station. From there it’s less than a minutes’ walk to the residence.
TAXI: A taxi will cost approx €12-17 from Chamartin. Depending on where you pick up the taxi, you could incur a surcharge of about €4€ for station pick up.
Adolfo Suarez Madrid Barajas Airport:
METRO: Take the Metro in Terminal 4 or in Terminals 1, 2 and 3 (it’s the same stop). Both stops are on the same line 8 (pink). At Nuevos Ministerios (the end of the line) change to the Metro line 10 (dark blue) to Alonso Martinez. From there change to line 4 (brown) and alight at San Bernardo. We are less than a minute’s walk from there.
CERCANÍAS RENFE & METRO: you can only catch the RENFE Cercanias from Terminal 4, take direction Nuevos Ministerios and change there to the Metro line 10 (dark blue) to Alonso Martinez. From there change to line 4 (brown) and alight at San Bernardo. We are less than a minute’s walk from there.
TAXI: from all the terminals, there is a fixed rate tariff of 30€ from to the centre of Madrid.
The residence is situated at the intersection of San Bernardo and Alberto Aguilera streets. From the M30 and A6 entrance to Madrid, take Princesa street, then Alberto Aguilera street and onto San Bernardo. There is no car park at the residence. Students arriving by car are recommended to use the Garaje Modelo next door.

HOW CAN I ORGANISE A VISIT?
If it’s during the working day, you can come when you like! Otherwise, call us on +34 91 144 16 55 or send us an email and we’ll organize a visit for you.
HOW LONG DOES THE VISIT TAKE?
It depends on you. Between 10 minutes and an hour. We are at your service to help you find the ideal accommodation.
CAN I RESERVE WITHOUT VISITING?
Of course. However, we encourage you to come and get to know us so that you have a better idea of what the residence is like and see the installations and ambience for yourself.
WHAT WILL WE VISIT?
We’ll visit all the common areas including the gym and the restaurant. We’ll also see the rooms and you can discuss any questions or doubts that you may have.
HOW DO I MAKE A RESERVATION?

WHAT DO I NEED FOR THE RESERVATION?
It’s a simple, 4 step process*:
- Complete the online application on our web page: https://nexoresidencias.com/en/inscription
- We’ll contact you. Once we have received your application, we’ll contact you. If you want to speed up the process, you can call us on +34 911 441 655.
- TOnce you’ve finalised the application process, to confirm your place in Claraval Student Residence you need to pay €250 as a reservation fee, this fee then forms part of the Damage Deposit of 800€. The 250€ reservation fee is fully refundable until the 31st of May. From the 1st of June, we’ll only refund this fee if the student is not accepted into a University in the Autonomous Community of Madrid.

WHAT DOCUMENTATION DO I NEED?
- A copy of your latest grades or GPA or a letter from the University confirming your offer of a place.
- Copy of your national ID card or passport
- Passport photo
- Signed contract
- Direct debit form signed
We need all this documentation before you move into Claraval Student Residence. You can send them scanned by email and bring the originals when you check-in.
WHO CAN LIVE IN THE RESIDENCE?
The Residence admits students from all universities and educational institutions. There are also places for students of public service examinations. You can apply for your place from January for the following academic year.
WHAT IS THE CONTRACT LENGTH?
The Residence has a minimum stay of 1 academic year (9 months), normally from September of one year to the end of June the following year.
CAN I STAY IN THE SUMMER?
Yes, although the contract extension is not automatic and depends on summer groups. Please request your summer stays as soon as possible.
CAN I PAY MONTHLY?
Yes. The academic year fee can be spread into monthly payments by direct debit. If you prefer to make one single annual payment, we’ll give you a 5% discount.
WHAT ARE THE PAYMENT DATES?
There are three concepts in terms of payment:
- SECURITY DEPOSIT: €800 which we keep hold of until the end of the academic year. When you go home in June, if your room is in perfect condition and as we gave it to you, we’ll refund your €800. In the case of damage, we’ll deduct the repair costs from this deposit.
- RENT GUARANTEE: The Rent Guarantee is equivalent to one month’s rent plus VAT. This becomes the payment of your last month’s stay with us.
- RENTS: payment is done by direct debit between the 1st and 5th of each month.
The payments are made in 4 steps:
- €250 (part one of the Security Deposit) to guarantee your place – within 5 working days from receiving the offer of a place.
- €550 to complete the Security Deposit of €800 – to be paid between 1st and 30th June. [These two payments together form the SECURITY DEPOSIT]
- 1st August – payment of the RENT GUARANTEE. The amount is equal to one month’s rent plus VAT and should usually be paid by direct debit. The RENT GUARANTEE is a binding part of the RESERVATION and will be converted into the payment of the last month’s stay with us (normally June of the year following check-in)
Subsequently, the payments will be by direct debit in the first 5 days of the month.
DO I GET MY SECURITY DEPOSIT BACK?
Yes. Well, supposing that you don’t break anything – including the terms of the contract, especially the minimum stay requirement!
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE RESIDENCE?
All utilities and the use of the common areas. Cleaning, bed linen and towels. Fibre-optic internet, CCTV 24h, maintenance and a lovely management team.
WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE RESIDENCE?
Your take away Pizza … the laundry of your own clothes, photocopies and the carpark.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

ARE THE ROOMS MIXED?
Our Residence is mixed (co-ed). There are no twin rooms in Claraval.
CAN I CHOOSE MY ROOM?
You can tell us your preference and we’ll try our best but it’s a great big game of Tetris and we can’t always guarantee it.
FROM WHEN CAN I ARRIVE?
In principle, you should arrive on the first day of your contract. If you want to arrive earlier, you should consult us in advance.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO BRING?
Your stuff! Your room is complete but bring a network cable, some hangers, nespresso….
WHAT SHOULD I NOT BRING?
Bed linen or towels. Too much stuff – you won’t need it. Nothing which makes too much noise.
ARE THERE BED-LINEN AND TOWELS?
Yes. We’ll also change them and wash them every week.
CAN I DECORATE MY ROOM?
As long as you leave it as you found it, no problem. Otherwise we might have to charge for damages.
CAN I BRING PETS?
No. We love animals but… no.
IS THERE A LAUNDRY ROOM?
Yes. There are two types of washers and dryers. One works with an App and you don’t need washing powder or fabric softener; the other is coin operated and you’ll need to provide your own washing powder and fabric softener just in case you have an allergy or if you just like the smell of your usual brand!
IS THERE A MAIL SERVICE?
Sí. Recogemos las cartas y paquetería. Por favor, toma muy en cuenta la política de uso del servicio de correos tal y como detalla el contrato.
CAN I SMOKE?
Inside, no. It’s actually illegal. Smoking inside is strictly prohibited and can lead to disciplinary action and damage charges for repainting and decorating.
HAVE I GOT INTERNET?
Yes. The Residence has a dedicated super-fast fibre-optic broadband connection. In your room you have a cable connection and there is WiFi throughout the building.
CAN I HAVE A PARTY?
Not in your room. You can request permission to use the common areas. In any case, we’ll organise the parties as well!
CAN I HAVE FRIENDS STAY?
Overnight guests are strictly controlled. You have to ask for permission and wait for confirmation from the building management. You should plan in advance for this.
CAN I PARK IN THE RESIDENCE?
No. There is no car park at the residence.
HOW CAN I LET MAINTENANCE KNOW OF A PROBLEM?

WHO CAN I SPEAK TO IF I HAVE A PROBLEM?
There is always someone to talk to. In your university there will be a student services department who can help you or the “Defensora de la Universidad” exists in the public universities. Our customer service team is also on hand for whatever you need. Unless it is an emergency, we’d appreciate it if you made an appointment.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO BEFORE DEPARTURE?
Leave your room as you found it: completely empty and with no damage. Let us know a couple of days before your departure and we’ll arrange the check-out inspection. Leave the keys at reception and head off to the beach to have a great summer before coming back next year!
CAN I LEAVE MY STUFF IN THE RESIDENCE OVER THE SUMMER?
If you have rebooked for the following year, yes. You have to package up all your stuff in boxes clearly label them, and leave them at reception. Residencia Claraval accepts no responsibility for items left in storage.
